"human-spirit treason" or simply human
While I do enjoy at least some of the popular conspiracy movies I just cannot buy into the idea that all/many/some of the people who buy into these myth based religions are really trying to pull the wool over folks eyes. I do think that some of them are in it for the power. I also think that for many the myths provide a great source of comfort. I do wish we could figure out how ethical culture could provide that same level of comfort.
